The Nigerian Army has announced a nationwide verification and screening exercise for children of fallen personnel under its educational sponsorship programme for the 2025/2026 academic session.
According to a notice posted on the Army’s official X handle on Thursday, the exercise will be conducted across the six geopolitical zones between February and March 2026.
“The sponsorship is one of the welfare schemes in the Nigerian Army aimed at guaranteeing primary, secondary and tertiary education for the children of personnel who died in active service,” the notice stated.
For the South-South zone, the verification exercise is scheduled to hold from February 23 to 26, 2026, at the Headquarters, 6 Division, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
In the South-East, screening will take place from February 28 to March 3, 2026, at the Headquarters, 82 Division, Enugu, Enugu State, while the South-West exercise is slated for March 5 to 8, 2026, at the Headquarters, 2 Division, Ibadan, Oyo State.
The Army further disclosed that the North-East screening will be conducted from March 11 to 14, 2026, at the Headquarters, Nigerian Army Armour Corps, Bauchi, Bauchi State. For the North-West, the exercise is billed for March 16 to 20, 2026, at the Headquarters, 1 Division Nigerian Army, Kaduna, Kaduna State.
The Army urged eligible beneficiaries to adhere strictly to the scheduled dates and venues, noting that the verification process is aimed at ensuring that only qualified dependants benefit from the educational support scheme.
The initiative forms part of the military’s broader welfare policy designed to support families of personnel who lost their lives while serving the nation.
