The Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has approved the immediate payment of February salaries and pensions to civil servants and retirees ahead of the forthcoming Ramadan. The approval was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Mahmud Dantawasa, who said the governor had directed the State Accountant General to release the funds without delay.
According to the statement, “His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has directed the State Accountant General to immediately release the February salary to all civil servants across the state.” The government explained that the decision was taken to enable workers and pensioners make adequate preparations for the holy month of Ramadan.
It added that the directive “is aimed at allowing workers and retirees to make adequate preparations and comfortably commence the holy month of Ramadan.” The early disbursement is expected to provide financial relief to thousands of families across the state, particularly as Muslims prepare for the period of fasting, prayers, and charity.
