Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation HADIN KAI, have successfully repelled coordinated attacks by suspected Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in Pulka and Mandaragirau communities of Borno State. In a statement issued on Monday, the Media Information Officer of the task force, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, disclosed that the incidents occurred late on Saturday when insurgents attempted to overrun military positions in the two locations.
According to the statement, terrorists advancing from the Sambisa Forest axis launched a fierce assault on troops of Sector 1 stationed in Pulka. The attackers reportedly engaged the troops in a prolonged and intense firefight. However, the soldiers stood their ground, effectively containing and reversing the attack, forcing the insurgents to retreat after suffering significant resistance.
The military added that a similar attempt in Mandaragirau was also thwarted as troops responded swiftly with superior firepower and tactical coordination, preventing the terrorists from gaining access to the community. Operation HADIN KAI reassured residents of its continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the North-East, stressing that clearance operations and aggressive patrols remain ongoing to deny insurgents freedom of movement within the theatre of operations.
The task force urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies to support ongoing counter-insurgency efforts.
