The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has arrested a truck driver for wrong-way driving following a road traffic accident along the Lekki inward Marwa axis, Victoria Island, on Monday.

In a statement, LASTMA spokesperson Adebayo Taofiq said the crash involved a mini flat-body truck and a dispatch motorcycle rider, who sustained serious injuries after the truck reportedly drove against the designated one-way traffic flow and collided with the rider’s lane.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that the truck driver flagrantly violated traffic regulations by navigating the road in the wrong direction, resulting in the collision,” Taofiq said.

The impact of the crash left the dispatch rider badly injured and caused temporary traffic disruption along the busy corridor. LASTMA officials responded promptly to manage the scene and restore traffic flow.

Authorities have urged motorists, particularly commercial vehicle operators, to strictly adhere to traffic rules and regulations to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of all road users.
