The Nigeria Forest Security Service (NFSS), Kano State Command, has reported receiving 111 complaints in the month of January, covering a wide range of criminal and environmental incidents.
State Commander Abdullahi Al’ameen disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday and signed by the service’s Public Relations Officer, Malam Usman Umar. According to Al’ameen, the complaints included bush burning, cattle rustling, car theft, deforestation, motorcycle and tricycle theft, house and shop breaking, thuggery, and robbery, among others.
Out of the 111 complaints, 29 have been addressed, while 82 remain pending, the commander said, highlighting the service’s ongoing efforts to respond to incidents across the state.
Al’ameen emphasized that the NFSS’s primary mandate is the prevention and detection of crimes and illegal activities within forested areas, as well as safeguarding natural resources and the communities that depend on them.
The report underscores the persistent security and environmental challenges facing Kano State and highlights the role of the NFSS in maintaining law and order in vulnerable areas.
