The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has identified 79 Nigerians for deportation under its intensified crackdown on criminal immigrants, describing those listed as part of its “worst-of-the-worst” category.
Findings on the DHS website show that the affected Nigerians were convicted of offences ranging from fraud, drug trafficking and robbery to assault and manslaughter, and were arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as part of ongoing enforcement operations.
In a statement accompanying the list, DHS said the arrests align with the renewed immigration policy direction of the administration of President Donald Trump.
“The U.S. Department of Homeland Security is highlighting the worst of the worst criminal aliens arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
“Under Secretary Noem’s leadership, the hardworking men and women of DHS and ICE are fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations, starting with the worst of the worst,” the statement read.
