The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have announced a two-week extension of the ongoing recruitment exercise for 50,000 police constables nationwide.
The application portal, which was opened on December 15, 2025, will now remain accessible until February 8, following the adjustment approved by the authorities. Police officials said the decision was taken after more than 400,000 applications were received and a subsequent review revealed wide disparities in participation across states.
In a statement issued yesterday by the PSC’s Head of Protocol and Public Affairs, Torty Kalu, it was disclosed that while some states recorded high numbers of applicants, others lagged behind.
According to the statement, states such as Adamawa, Benue and Kaduna have witnessed strong interest in the exercise, whereas Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi and Anambra recorded relatively low application figures.
The PSC explained that the extension is intended to provide additional opportunity for eligible candidates from underrepresented states to apply, in line with the commission’s commitment to equitable national representation.
The commission urged qualified Nigerians who are yet to submit their applications to take advantage of the extended deadline, noting that the recruitment process is aimed at strengthening the manpower capacity of the Nigeria Police Force.
The statement reaffirmed that the exercise remains free of charge and advised applicants to beware of fraudsters posing as recruitment agents.
