Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved a comprehensive welfare package for the bereaved father of six children and their mother, who were murdered in the Chiranci Dorayi area of the state, including sponsorship for Hajj and Umrah, provision of a new house, and full welfare support.

The intervention was announced during a condolence visit by the governor to the family and was contained in a statement signed on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

Governor Yusuf expressed deep sympathy with the grieving father and assured him of the Kano State Government’s continued support, describing the tragedy as heartbreaking and unacceptable.

“As part of efforts to rehabilitate and restore his social life, the government will provide a new and befitting house for the bereaved father,” the governor said. He further assured that the state would assume full responsibility for the man’s welfare and support him to remarry, should he find a suitable life partner, including taking care of all requirements to enable him restart his life.

On the quest for justice, Governor Yusuf directed the Kano State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice to fast-track the prosecution of suspects already arrested in connection with the killings.

“Justice must be served. All those found culpable will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” he said, adding that he would sign the death warrant for any convict found guilty in the Chiranci Dorayi killings once the courts conclude the process.

The governor noted that similar action would apply to other high-profile cases in the state, including the killers of Hanifa and those responsible for the Gezawa arson attack, once convictions are secured.

Governor Yusuf also commended the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies for what he described as their synergy and swift action that led to the arrest of the suspects.

In appreciation of the government’s intervention, the bereaved father donated his personal house to the Kano State Government for the construction of an Islamiyya school to serve the community.

The governor concluded by praying for Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and to give their families, as well as the people of Kano State, patience and lasting peace.

In a related development, Governor Yusuf paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Dr Bature AbdulAziz, President of the National Patriotic Elders Forum for Peace and Unity.

He described the late elder statesman as a patriotic advocate of peace whose contributions to unity and national development would be long remembered, and prayed for Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.

The governor also visited Baba Umar, Executive Secretary of the Kano State Private and Voluntary Schools Board, to commiserate with him over the recent death of his mother.
