An Oyo State High Court sitting at Ring Road, Ibadan, has summoned the medical doctor attached to the Agodi Custodial Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service to appear before it today over issues surrounding the health status of a former Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state, Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary.
The directive followed the inability of Auxiliary to appear in court when his case was called on Monday, leading to the stalling of proceedings.
Sources disclosed that although the former Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the Oyo State Park Management System (PMS) was earlier brought to the court premises, he was reportedly unable to attend the court session due to alleged health-related challenges.
The trial judge subsequently ordered the custodial centre’s medical doctor to appear before the court to give a clear account of Auxiliary’s medical condition and to determine whether he is medically fit to stand trial.
The court is expected to take further decisions on the matter after hearing from the prison medical officer today.
