The Federal Government has introduced a new initiative tagged the “Impact Challenge” as part of efforts to strengthen outcomes and expand the reach of its flagship digital skills programme, the 3 Million Tech Talent (3MTT) scheme.
The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Mr. Bosun Tijani, disclosed this on Tuesday through a post on his official X handle, noting that the challenge is designed to improve measurable impact from the training programme as it enters a scaling phase.
According to the minister, the pilot stage of the 3MTT initiative has already recorded significant progress, with more than 135,000 Nigerians trained across three cohorts.
He added that the programme’s community-driven learning model has further broadened its reach, extending digital training support to over 300,000 learners nationwide.
Tijani also revealed that the initiative has helped open up about 15,000 job and opportunity pathways, including employment placements, internships, freelance work and entrepreneurship prospects within the technology ecosystem.
The Impact Challenge, he explained, is expected to encourage innovation, collaboration and real-world problem-solving among participants, while ensuring that skills acquired translate into tangible economic and social value.
The minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to building a digitally skilled workforce capable of driving innovation, boosting productivity and positioning Nigeria as a competitive player in the global digital economy.
He said the next phase of the programme will focus not only on training numbers, but on outcomes that directly support job creation, enterprise development and sustainable national growth.
