Away from cameras and public statements, two of Nigeria’s most influential former leaders met quietly yesterday in Minna, the Niger State capital.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo paid a private visit to the Hilltop residence of former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd), where both men held a closed-door discussion.

Sources at the Ahmed Bola Tinubu International Airport disclosed that Obasanjo arrived earlier in the day and was received by protocol officers from the Niger State Government House, who escorted him directly to Babangida’s home.

The meeting, according to the sources, lasted about 30 minutes.

After the engagement, Obasanjo was driven back to the airport under the same official protocol, with no details of the discussion made public.

Though brief, the encounter between the two elder statesmen has drawn quiet attention, given their long-standing roles in shaping Nigeria’s political history.

As is often the case with such high-level private meetings, the content of the conversation remained undisclosed — leaving only speculation in its wake and reinforcing the tradition of discreet consultations among the nation’s senior political figures.
