Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende, Commissioner for Youths and Social Development, on Friday urged APC members in Badagry and Lagos to update their National Identification Number(NIN) before the APC e-registration exercise.
Ogunlende gave the advice during his membership revalidation at the APC e-registration exercise at Ward A, Asheri, Badagry, Lagos.
According to the commissioner, updating the NIN would enable members to complete the registration without technical hitches.
He said information available to him showed that many APC members in the ward were experiencing difficulties revalidating their party membership.
He explained that once the NIN was updated, members could proceed to the nearest registration centre to revalidate their membership seamlessly, rather than spending hours in queues only to be redirected for NIN updates.
The commissioner disclosed that he personally encountered a setback during the exercise after discovering that his phone number was not linked to his NIN.
“Although this is a setback, we have now uploaded all the necessary information, and I hope it will be approved within a few hours so I can complete my registration,” he said.
Ogunlende noted that in spite of the challenge, he had initiated the process and would wait for NIN approval before finalising his registration.
While reminding members that the exercise, which began on Jan. 5, would end on April 17, assured them that sufficient time had been provided to resolve any technical issues that might arise.
“My message to all APC members in Badagry and Lagos coming for the exercise at their wards, is that they should go the NIMC office in within their council area and update their NIN.
“After updating their NIN, they will just go to the nearest centre and revalidate their membership without any challenge.
“The good news about the registration is that we have enough time to rectify any technical issue.
“This is part of the expectations of the exercise and as long as one is able to follow the process you will be able to complete it,” he said.
Ogunlende commended the people of Badagry for coming out in their large numbers to register for the exercise.
