Chairman of the Labour Party Security, Peace, and Conflict Resolution Committee (LP- SPCRC) has commended Abia Governor, Alex Otti and the party presidential candidate in the 2023 election for their joint move to resolve the lingering leadership crisis rocking the party, appealing to the Barrister Julius Abure-led National Working Committee (NWC) to try and honor the party stakeholders’ meeting being jointly convened by the Abia State Governor Chief Alex Otti and Peter Obi to find ways to end the crisis in the party and move it forward.
Chairman of the committee, AIG Charles Ugomuoh, who made the call today (Monday, September 2) in Abuja during a chart with the media, preparatory to the all-important stakeholders’ reconciliatory meeting coming up on Wednesday, September 4, said it has become necessary to resolve the Labour Party crisis at this time, “as Nigeria’s democracy cannot be sustained with one party system.”
“As a result, all should rise and stand firm to right all wrongs and move this great country forward. It has also become necessary now that the INEC has decided to distance itself from the Abure-led National Working Committee, and should the party continue this way, it means that all party activities remain a nullity. So, the time is ripe for the party stakeholders to come together to fathom ways out of LP’s current challenges,” Ugomuoh stated.

Charles Ugomuoh, while admoniting numerous aggrieved party stakeholders on the need for a well-organized moves for the 2927 general elections, said the committee, in line with its primary duty, is committed to the resolution of conflicts within the party as well as ensuring the speedy restoration of peace and harmonious working relationships amongst party members and stakeholders.
“Given the above, the committee wishes to align itself with the recent position of Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, the party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, who, alongside the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, advocated a stakeholders’ meeting to holistically resolve all pending crises in the party,” Ugomuoh said.

Before this time, this committee had been in the forefront of efforts to restore peace in the party, Ugomuoh stressed, disclosing that the committee had sat and consulted with various aggrieved party members and stakeholders at various locations and fora over time, in a bid to restore peace in the party, including with Obi, the presidential candidate of our great party, as well as the party’s NWC.
