Nigeria strolled majestically into the round of 16 with a commanding 3-1 win against the Cranes of Uganda in Fes on Tuesday.

With the knockout stage already secured after two victories from the opening two games, the Super Eagles handlers rested some key players but still had good arsenal to deliver the desired result.

Trabzonspor’s striker, Paul Onuachu got the curtain raiser in the 28th minute to boost his confidence after firing blank as long as he can remember in Super Eagles shirt.

First half ended with Nigeria leading 1-0, but the second half saw Club Brugge midfielder,Raphael Onyedika taking control with two goals in quick succession to take the game beyond the Ugandans, who fought hard to get a consolitary goal, despite ending the game with 10 men.

Tunisia and Tanzania progressed behind Nigeria, with the Taifa Stars of Tanzania sneaking into the last 16 as one of the four best third-placed sides after a 1-1 draw with Tunisia earlier in the day.

Nigeria was the better side from the outset with more possession and chances created in the course of the game, obviously propelled by expectations of Nigerians after failing to qualify for back-to-back world cup.
