The assault on Christmas has taken a new turn, especially in the most populous black nation on earth, Nigeria, and the most populous city, Lagos. The slogan is catching fire.
The rebranding of Christmas as “Detty(dirty) December “.* *Christmas as celebrated for centuries reminds us of the birth of Christ , the beginning of God’s promise to reconcile man to himself; man-the greatest of all creation.
The story and history of the birth of Christ has endured, and obviously the devil is not happy. From inception, the efforts to scuttle it, led by Herod, has failed, but the campaign to denigrate it has not.
For those who want to erase it as a mere holiday, forgetting to mention the reason for the holiday, just to be politically correct, this “Detty (dirty) December” mantra, may catch their fancy.*
The devil has tried to corrupt the original intent, the most precious gift quietly given to mankind without fanfare, a promise by God fulfilled.
Leading to Christmas one Witnesses the good, the bad, and the ugly all in an attempt to make money, yes, those could be “Detty (dirty)” but not Christmas.
For all intents and purposes they will tell you it’s just a caption for marketing and promotion, they point to the lexicon and meaning of “Detty”, but we know what the sound communicates, the subterfuge in the choice of word, the VICES of the period.
Do not underestimate the power of the devil. People are now going home to celebrate “Detty (dirty) December”, time of loose living and limitless pursuit and enjoyment. There is power in word and branding.
Why Celebrate the vices and not the reason for the season. As you celebrate this Christmas, avoid the trap of what is in vogue – the Detty (dirty) associations; remember the essence of the birth of Christ and what this gift means to us.
Those who came up with the name “Detty (dirty) December”, may have done so just for marketing purposes and money making, but be not ignorant of the wiles of the devil as the Bible warns us.
CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS AND CALL IT BY ITS RIGHTFUL NAME. There is nothing Detty(dirty) about his coming and its remembrance. It is MERRY CHRISTMAS.
May the joy of His birth bring eternal joy in your homes as you celebrate a reminder of the greatest gift, and may that joy usher you and yours into a very happy new year.
As always, remain blessed and a blessing to anyone around you
