A socio-cultural group, the Northern Ethnic Nationalities Forum (NENF), has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as decisive leadership, strategic foresight and unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s security and sovereignty.
The forum also praised the Minister of Defence, the leadership of the armed forces and the entire security architecture for their professionalism, cooperation and effective operational coordination in the recent joint counter-terrorism efforts targeting ISIS affiliates and other terrorist groups operating in the country.
The commendation was contained in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday by the Chairman of the forum, Dr Dominic Alancha, following the successful joint operation carried out by Nigerian and United States troops against ISIS elements in Sokoto State on Thursday.
According to the forum, the operation underscored the capacity of Nigeria’s security agencies to work seamlessly with international partners to confront evolving security threats, particularly terrorism and violent extremism in the North-West and other vulnerable regions.
Alancha noted that President Tinubu’s leadership had strengthened intelligence gathering, inter-agency collaboration and international security partnerships, which he said were critical to achieving recent operational successes.
“The President has demonstrated uncommon courage and clarity in confronting the security challenges facing the nation. His administration’s support for the armed forces and strategic engagement with allies have yielded tangible results, as seen in the recent operation in Sokoto,” the statement read.
The NENF also applauded the Minister of Defence and the service chiefs for what it described as disciplined command, professionalism and dedication to duty, stressing that the renewed momentum in counter-terrorism operations had boosted public confidence in the nation’s security apparatus.
The forum further urged Nigerians, particularly communities in conflict-prone areas, to continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information, noting that collective vigilance remained vital to sustaining peace and stability.
It reaffirmed its commitment to promoting unity, peaceful coexistence and cooperation among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic nationalities, while expressing optimism that sustained security reforms would further weaken terrorist networks across the country.
