US Congressman Hails Airstrikes in North West Nigeria, Says Move Will Protect Christians

A United States Congressman, Riley Moore, has commended recent airstrikes carried out in North West Nigeria, describing them as a decisive step toward protecting Christian communities and addressing the country’s lingering security challenges.

Moore made the remarks on Friday via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, noting that the strikes were conducted in coordination with the Nigerian government. He said the military action marked the beginning of a broader effort to end violent attacks, particularly against Christians, while restoring security across the country.

According to him, the airstrikes represent “just the first step to ending the slaughter of Christians and the security crisis affecting all Nigerians.”

The lawmaker further stressed that the United States, under President Donald Trump, is committed to confronting religiously motivated violence in Nigeria.

“President Trump has been clear that the killing of Christians in Nigeria must end,” Moore stated.

He also issued a stern warning to armed groups responsible for attacks on civilians, adding, “As I stated at the outset: Do not test President Trump’s resolve in this matter.”

Nigeria has for years grappled with insecurity, particularly in the North West and North Central regions, where banditry, terrorism and communal violence have claimed thousands of lives and displaced many communities.

While the Nigerian government has continued to deploy military operations to affected areas, concerns have persisted locally and internationally over attacks on vulnerable populations, including faith-based communities.

The latest airstrikes are part of ongoing efforts by Nigerian security forces, with international cooperation, to degrade the operational capacity of armed groups and restore peace to troubled regions.
