The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has distributed over 2,000 bags of rice and other relief materials to constituents across the five local government areas in the district as part of her Christmas outreach.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday by her Special Adviser on Media, Mike Idoko. According to the statement, the distribution was carried out simultaneously in Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okene, Okehi and Ogori-Magongo Local Government Areas, with beneficiaries drawn from vulnerable households, community groups and religious organisations.
The outreach, the senator said, was aimed at cushioning the impact of rising food prices and ensuring that families in the district are able to celebrate the festive season with dignity, despite prevailing economic challenges.
Akpoti-Uduaghan noted that the initiative aligns with her commitment to the welfare of her constituents, particularly during periods of heightened economic pressure. She emphasised that the Christmas season presents an opportunity to support those in need and strengthen community bonds.
She also reaffirmed her dedication to pursuing policies and interventions that would improve living standards across Kogi Central, stressing that beyond seasonal support, her focus remains on sustainable empowerment and development programmes.
Community leaders and beneficiaries across the five local government areas reportedly expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely and impactful amid the current cost-of-living challenges.
The senator urged residents to embrace the spirit of peace and unity during the festive season, while assuring them of her continued representation and advocacy for the interests of Kogi Central at the National Assembly.
