The Lagos State Government has said it will strengthen monitoring and provide continuous training for frontline health workers as part of efforts to improve primary healthcare delivery across Health District IV of the state.
This was disclosed at the 2025 Annual Management Retreat of Lagos State Health District IV, which was held with the theme, “Reinforcing a motivated and responsive workforce for better healthcare delivery.”
The retreat brought together senior officials in the health sector, including permanent secretaries, heads of departments, medical officers of health from local governments and local council development areas, unit heads and other members of staff.
Speaking at the event, officials of the district said the initiative was aimed at reviewing existing strategies and identifying new approaches to reposition health facilities under Health District IV for improved and more efficient service delivery.
They noted that strengthening capacity building, accountability and supervision of frontline health workers would enhance the quality of care at the primary healthcare level and ensure better health outcomes for residents.
The officials also emphasised the importance of teamwork, professionalism and responsiveness in meeting the healthcare needs of communities, adding that a motivated workforce remained central to the success of government health interventions.
Participants at the retreat expressed optimism that the outcomes of the meeting would translate into improved service delivery, increased patient satisfaction and a more resilient primary healthcare system across the district.
