The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a couple from the Republic of Benin and another suspect over the alleged abduction and killing of a man they reportedly met through social media in Ikorodu, Lagos.
Police sources said the suspects, Mr Sunday Sojunu, 35, and his wife, Mrs Toyin Sojunu, 31, are being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, alongside an alleged accomplice, Dare Sampson, described as having no fixed address.
The victim, Ayoola J. Bello, who lived on Odolowa Street, Imodi, Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State, was allegedly lured to Ikorodu in November 2025 under the guise of a friendly visit.
How the Alleged Crime Unfolded
Investigators said Mrs Sojunu, described as a petty trader and social media content creator, allegedly met the deceased on TikTok, where they became acquainted before later meeting in person in Ogun State.
Police sources allege that the relationship later triggered a domestic dispute between the couple.
Further investigations revealed that Bello was allegedly invited to the couple’s residence in Ikorodu, where he was reportedly abducted and held against his will.
During this period, the suspects allegedly contacted the victim’s family and demanded ransom, which police sources said was paid.
Despite the payment, investigators said Bello was later killed.
Body Recovered After Weeks of Investigation
Police sources disclosed that the suspects allegedly dumped the victim’s remains in a river around the Adamo area of Ikorodu in an attempt to conceal the crime.
Following weeks of coordinated investigations by homicide detectives and the Police Forensic Crime Scene Unit at the SCID, the body was reportedly recovered from the river.
The remains have since been deposited at a morgue for autopsy as part of preparations for prosecution.

Security analysts say the incident highlights the need for stronger public awareness around online interactions and the risks of meeting strangers without verification.
Police Investigation and Official Response
Police sources said the breakthrough was aided by the recent strengthening of forensic and investigative operations within the Lagos State Police Command under Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh Moshood.
All three suspects are expected to be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
Efforts to obtain an official response from the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer were unsuccessful, as she was reportedly attending an official police conference in Abuja at the time of filing this report.
