The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has commended Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, for defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, describing the move as historic and strategically significant for the political future of the region.
In a statement issued on Friday by its Chairman, Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, the forum warmly welcomed Governor Mutfwang into the ruling party, expressing appreciation for what it described as his decision to heed the call of stakeholders across the North-Central zone.
According to the forum, Mutfwang’s defection marks a major political realignment that would strengthen the APC’s presence and influence in Plateau State and the wider region. It noted that the governor’s move was expected to foster greater cooperation between the state and the federal government, while also enhancing development opportunities for the people.
Zazzaga recalled that the forum had, since April 2024, consistently advocated for Governor Mutfwang to join the APC, stressing that his entry into the party was the culmination of months of consultations and engagements with political leaders and stakeholders in the zone.
The forum assured the Plateau governor of its full support, pledging to work closely with him to ensure unity within the party and to advance the collective interests of the North-Central region.
It further expressed optimism that Mutfwang’s defection would inspire other political leaders in the region to align with the APC, describing the development as a boost to the party’s consolidation ahead of future political contests.
