The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has introduced a Pre-Enrolment Portal aimed at streamlining the National Identification Number (NIN) registration process and improving service delivery across the country.
In a post shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday, the commission said the portal allows applicants to securely submit their personal details, upload required supporting documents, and schedule appointments ahead of their visit to enrolment centres for biometric capture.
According to NIMC, the initiative is designed to significantly reduce waiting times at enrolment centres, address overcrowding, and enhance the overall efficiency of the registration process. By enabling applicants to complete preliminary steps online, the commission said enrolment officers will be able to attend to citizens faster and with greater accuracy.
The commission also noted that the portal will help improve data quality by minimising errors often associated with manual data entry, thereby ensuring that information captured during enrolment is accurate and reliable.
NIMC encouraged Nigerians yet to enrol or those seeking to update their records to take advantage of the new portal, stressing that the move aligns with its commitment to leveraging technology to deliver a smoother, more secure, and citizen-friendly identity management system.
