Kaduna NUJ unveils 2025 press week programme, to honour Sani

The Kaduna State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has announced activities for its 2025 Annual Press Week, with the theme: ‘Media and the Kaduna State Peace Model: Strengthening Dialogue, Security and Development in the North’.

According to a statement signed by the Secretary of the Planning Committee, Ango Bally, the week-long event will open on Thursday, with an early morning Walk at 8:00 a.m., to be followed by an Inter-Chapel Sports competition at the NUJ premises, featuring table tennis, table soccer, draft and scrabble.

The press week will hold under the distinguished Chairmanship of the former Zamfara Governor, Sen. Abdulaziz Yari, Marafan Sokoto.

Gov. Uba Sani of Kaduna State is the Special Guest of Honour and Guest of Honour, while retired Army spokesperson, Brig.-Gen. Sani Kukasheka-Usman, will serve as the Guest Speaker.

As part of the programme, NUJ members will observe Juma’at prayers on Friday at the Nupe Road Juma’at Mosque, while a Thanksgiving Church Service will round-off the spiritual activities on Sunday, at a designated Church.

A key highlight of the grand finale is the official investiture of Sani as the State Grand Patron of the NUJ to be performed by the National President of the Union, Alhassan Yahya.

The grand finale is scheduled at the Bafra Hotel and Suites, Kaduna.

The council urged journalists, development partners, civil society organisations and the public to attend the events.
