Just a day after fuji icon K1 De Ultimate formally expressed interest in becoming the next Awujale of Ijebuland, the Fusengbuwa Ruling House has issued an official response, moving the process into a more structured phase.

In a letter dated December 4, 2025, addressed to Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Anifowoshe (K1 De Ultimate) and delivered to his Idowa residence, the chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Otunba Abdul Lateef Adebayo Owoyemi, acknowledged receipt of the singer’s declaration letter sent a day earlier.

Owoyemi noted that the letter carried no return address or phone number and was delivered through Prince Adedoyin, from whom he obtained K1’s WhatsApp contact.

The chairman then issued clear next steps for the musician, beginning with the completion of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House Individual Member’s Particulars & House Linkage Data Form, which must be filled, witnessed, and countersigned by the head of K1’s royal lineage within the ruling house.

He instructed K1 to return the completed form “as soon as possible,” after which he may send a representative to pick up both the Awujale Candidate’s Obaship Application Form and the Irrevocable Undertakings, all of which must be completed and submitted in three copies.

Owoyemi also highlighted a submission deadline: 5 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025 for all candidates. However, he granted K1 a special extension of three additional working days, allowing him until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, to return all required documents.

The letter was also copied to top government officials, including:

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun (MFR)

The Executive Chairman, Ijebu-Ode Local Government

The Commissioner for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs

Ogun State Attorney-General & Commissioner for Justice

The Secretary, Ijebu-Ode Local Government

Chairman, Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council

Deputy Chairman, Otunba Adedokun Ajidagba

Vice Chairman, Chief Fassy Yusuf

This latest development signals that K1’s pursuit of the revered throne is being formally processed, placing him in direct competition with dozens of other princes from the Fusengbuwa lineage.

With the Awujale stool vacant since the passing of Oba Sikiru Adetona on July 13, the succession race is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched traditional contests in recent years and K1 De Ultimate is now officially in the thick of it.
