Vice President Kashim Shettima has thrown his weight behind a proposal by Schoolnet India Limited and Learnet Skills Limited to introduce their KYAN smart class technology into Nigerian schools, describing the initiative as a major step toward transforming basic education across the country.
Shettima gave the endorsement during a briefing with representatives of both organisations, where the team demonstrated how the KYAN device—an all-in-one, portable digital learning system—can enhance classroom engagement and improve learning outcomes.
The Vice President noted that the technology, if properly adapted to Nigeria’s local realities, has the potential to significantly bridge learning gaps, especially in underserved communities.
He said the Federal Government remains committed to integrating modern digital tools into the education sector to strengthen foundational learning and expand access to quality teaching resources.
According to him, embracing innovative solutions such as KYAN would support ongoing efforts to modernise Nigeria’s school system and equip young learners with the skills needed for a rapidly evolving world.
Officials of Schoolnet India Limited and Learnet Skills Limited expressed readiness to collaborate with relevant Nigerian agencies to pilot the system, train teachers, and customise the platform to suit Nigeria’s curriculum. The endorsement marks a significant step in Nigeria’s push toward digital and technology-driven education reform.
