To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Nigeria Police Women, female officers of the Lagos State Police Command on Saturday, November 29, 2025, held a 5km Walkathon Against Gender-Based Violence in collaboration with the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA).
The symbolic walk brought together policewomen from across the Command, who turned out in large numbers to promote unity and reaffirm their resolve to combat all forms of gender-based violence in the state.
Leading the walk was the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, who joined the women in a show of solidarity and support.
He was accompanied by ACP Mary Ayim, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Administration) and the most senior female officer in the Command, along with female Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and other female personnel.
The walk set off from the Command Headquarters and moved through Mobolaji Bank Anthony Way, engaging the public and amplifying calls for the eradication of gender-based violence.
In his address, CP Jimoh praised the invaluable contributions of policewomen across the Command, noting their roles in crime prevention, suspect apprehension, and leadership within administrative structures.
He stated that their commitment continues to enhance operational effectiveness and strengthen public confidence in the Police.
The Commissioner further reiterated the Command’s dedication to empowering women in policing and deepening partnerships with relevant institutions to ensure the safety and protection of all residents, especially survivors of gender-based violence.
