Executive Director of JCMI, Joyce Princess Onah, shared her remarkable story of overcoming obstacles to achieve success.

From dropping out of school twice to working menial jobs, Onah’s determination and resilience led her to become a beacon of hope for the students. “I stand here today not as a victim of my past, but as an architect of my future, and I am committed to helping you architect yours,” she said.

The event featured notable speakers, including Dr. Chinyere Onyeisi, Special Adviser to Governor Peter Mbah on Education Innovation, who emphasized the importance of digital literacy in today’s world. “In today’s fast-changing world, digital literacy is no longer a luxury, it’s a language of survival,” Onyeisi stated.

Other speakers included Barrister Chinyere Idoko-Ezugwu, who discussed self-governance and leadership, and Tara Jideonwo, who highlighted the power of acquiring practical skills. The students were encouraged to be intentional about learning, build digital competencies, and engage in global conversations.

The event concluded with the presentation of motivational songs, handcrafts, and a book titled “The Struggle of an African Girl Child” gifted to the students.

JCMI is currently sponsoring over 15 secondary school students and supporting others to acquire skills, with plans to do more in 2026.
