President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to veteran journalist, broadcaster, and former presidential adviser, Dr. Reuben Abati, on the occasion of his 60th birthday.
In a personal statement released on Friday, the President described Abati as an accomplished public intellectual, respected commentator, and patriotic voice who has made remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s media landscape and national discourse.
Tinubu lauded Abati’s decades-long career in journalism, academia, and public service, noting that his intellectual depth, eloquence, and commitment to truth have enriched Nigeria’s democratic experience.
“Reuben Abati, whom I fondly call ‘Rubi Rubi,’ is a versatile and excellent professional whose pen and voice have shaped public understanding of our national journey. He represents the best traditions of Nigerian journalism—courage, integrity, and intellect,” the President said.
The President also praised Abati’s role as a mentor to younger journalists, describing him as a shining example of professionalism and continuous learning.
“Beyond his career achievements, Dr. Abati has shown the strength of conviction and patriotism that define true public service. On this milestone, I join his family, friends, and colleagues in celebrating a man of thought and impact,” Tinubu added.
He wished the former presidential spokesman continued good health, wisdom, and fulfillment in the years ahead.
Dr. Reuben Abati, who served as Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to former President Goodluck Jonathan, has had a distinguished career spanning print and broadcast journalism, academia, and politics. He is currently a prominent media personality and co-anchor on Arise News Channel.
