The New Acting Chairman of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) ,Sister Victoria Bose Clarke sitting on the Throne
A new Executive Council, led by the Acting Chairman, Sister Victoria Bose Clarke, has assumed leadership of the Brotherhood of the Cross and Star (BCS) following a directive by the Sole Spiritual Head, Leader Olumba Olumba Obu, popularly known as O. O. Obu.
Sister Clarke pledged that her tenure would usher in key reforms and establish new funding sources to advance evangelism and promote the growth of the organisation.
It was gathered that this marks the first time in the history of BCS that such a leadership position has been conferred on someone outside the immediate family of Leader Olumba Olumba Obu.
Addressing a large crowd of BCS adherents during a reception ceremony in her honour, which also coincided with the 2025 International Women Fellowship Day held at the World Headquarters along 2-Lane, Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, Sister Clarke expressed delight and gratitude.
She described the development as unprecedented and divinely inspired by Leader Obu, adding that it would motivate her to take the faith to greater heights.
Describing the peaceful and orderly transition as a victory for all devotees, especially women, the Acting Chairman,who also serves as the President of the International Women Fellowship (IWF) assured members that her administration would diversify funding sources beyond traditional tithes, exploring ventures in business, technology, and other innovative areas.
She explained that these new streams of income would sustain the organisation’s growth, particularly through pilgrimages, missionary work, and expansion of evangelistic activities.
Sister Clarke emphasized that, through this remarkable development, Leader Olumba Olumba Obu had demonstrated to the world that the Kingdom of God does not discriminate on the basis of gender.
“We have spoken much about transition,” “but there is another very important issue that this appointment of Acting Chairman has addressed—and that is the liberation of women.
By this, He (Leader Olumba) has shown the world that in the Kingdom of God, there is neither male nor female.”she said.
Clarke further observed that her appointment as the first non-biological family member of Leader Olumba Olumba Obu to head the BCS had effectively broken the long-standing pattern of leadership being restricted to the founder’s family.
“Since the Father has broken that pattern of leadership remaining within the biological family of Olumba, it will never reoccur. Brotherhood has come of age; it is no longer what it was perceived to be—a family institution,” she declared.
Acknowledging the magnitude of work ahead, particularly in areas such as evangelism, financial diversification, and the establishment of income-generating businesses, the Acting Chairman affirmed her confidence that, with the collective support of members and divine guidance, these goals would be achieved.
She called on all BCS members to unite in tackling these challenges, expressing gratitude to Leader Olumba Olumba Obu, participants at the event, the College of Bishops, the Chairperson of the International Planning Committee, and others for their contributions to her successful reception.
According to available records, the Acting Chairperson was born in 1950 in the United Kingdom (UK), where she also completed most of her studies. Before her current appointment, she worked extensively across several West African nations and the Caribbean, building cathedrals dedicated to the worship of the Father.
The Chairman of the occasion, Deaconess Maria Onyeacholem, thanked BCS members for their love, unity, and massive turnout, urging them to continue their support and make meaningful contributions to ensure the success of the new administration. Such efforts, she noted, would surely attract divine blessings.
Earlier, in his homily, Officiating Priest Christ Witness Ime Akpakpan reminded members that God bestows gifts according to individual capacity and that such gifts must be used to advance His Kingdom on earth.
Expounding on the theme, “Use Your Talent and Possession to Serve God,” the priest stressed that accountability would ultimately be required of everyone. Drawing from Luke 12:48, Matthew 19:21, and Acts 4:34–35, he assured members that those who invest their resources faithfully in God’s service would be richly rewarded.
Eminent dignitaries at the event included Bishop Emmanuel Shegum, Bishop Alex Igwe, Bishop Iwat Etuk, Bishop Anthony Udeh, Bishop Bassey Ephraim, Bishop Sape, as well as various National and State Leaders’ Representatives and Council Members.
