Barau FC Technical Adviser, Ladan Bosso, says he remains optimistic about his team’s performance in spite a goaless draw with Wikki Tourists of Bauchi in week 11 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match played at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.
Bosso, who spoke to newsmen shortly after the encounter, said the result was not disappointing, noting that his players gave a good account of themselves.
According to him, the team is still in a building phase and will continue to improve as the season progresses.
He said that although his players showed commitment, the team still has a lot of work to do in improving their link-up play, wing crosses, and overall connection between the midfield and attack.
“We shouldn’t be too hard on ourselves. The boys gave their best, but there are still areas we must work on especially our build-up play and final connection,” Bosso said.
He explained that the team struggled to create clear-cut chances due to poor coordination and lack of accurate deliveries from the flanks.
“There was no single dangerous cross from the wings. We have to work on our pull-outs and finishing. The connection between the wingers and strikers is still a problem, and we will continue to train on that,” he added.
The former Flying Eagles coach, however, commended his young squad, noting that most of them were newly promoted and still adjusting to the demands of top-flight football.
“Most of these boys are new to the Premier League, but they are not pushovers. They are learning fast and improving with every game,” Bosso said.
Barau FC currently occupy 18th position in the NPFL table.
Speaking also, head Coach of Wikki Tourists , Abdu Maikaba, commended both teams for their spirited performance.
Maikaba said he was satisfied with his team’s display and happy to secure a valuable point away from home.
He, however, expressed optimism that his team would come out stronger in their next fixture against Niger Tornadoes in Bauchi.
