3 Drug Cartel Members Jailed 5 Years For Trafficking In 17.9kg Of Cocaine

A Federal High Court, Lagos, today, sentenced three members of International Criminal Organized Group, who specialized in drugs trafficking, to five years imprisonment

The convicted drug cartel members; Olashupo Michael Oladimeji, Muaezz Ademola Ogunbiyi and Sola Adegoke a.k.a. Babashola Omoyele.

Justice Musa Kakaki had on Thursday, convicted the trio following their guilty plea to a five count-charge of conspiracy, unlawful export of 17.90 Kilogrames of cocaine, and trafficking in 20.5 Kilogrames of Cannabis Sativa a.k.a. marijuana.

The prosecutor, Barrister Abu Ibrahim, during the arraignment of the drug lords on Thursday, told the court that they were arrested on August 26, 2025, at the Skyway Handling Company (SAHCO) Export Shed, of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, while attempting to smuggle out of the country 17.90 kilograms of Cocaine, concealed in textile material.

Ibrahim, a Commander of Narcotics, also told the court that two of the convicted drug lords, Sola Adegoke a.k.a. Babashola Omoyele and Muaezz Ademola Ogunbiyi, were arrested on September 4, 2025, while attempting to traffick a total of 20.5 Kilogrames of marijuana, concealed in a vehicle, a black Range Rover Car marked RBC 459 EJ.

He told the court that Shola Adegoke was arrested with with 9.6 kilograms at 13, Reverend Ogunbiyi Street, G.R.A. Ikeja Lagos. While 10.9 kilograms of the substance was recovered from Muaezz Ademola Ogunbiyi, at his house located Tiye Town, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State.

The convicts had pleaded guilty to the charges when they were arraigned on Thursday.

Based on their guilty plea, review the facts of the charge and tendering of the exhibits by the prosecutor, their convicts lawyers, Chief Benson Ndakara and O. N. Okuwobi, in their allucutor, to consider the early guilty plea of their clients as a sign of remorse.

They therefore begged the court to tamper justice with mercy in sentencing their clients. They particularly begged the court for non-custodian sentence or an option of fine.

Sentencing the drug lords today, Justice Kakaki held that “….. the first and second convicts is sentence to five years in count one.

“The first convict is sentence to five years imprisonment in count two.

“The second convict is sentence to five years imprisonment on count three.

“The third convict is sentence to four years imprisonment on count four

“The second convict is sentence to one year imprisonment on count five.”

The judge ordered that the sentences shall run concurrently.

Justice Kakaki also ordered final forfeiture of the cars, a Black Range Rover Car with Registration Number RBC 459 EJ and a black Toyota Venza car with registration number FST 771 JQ to the Federal government of Nigeria, being instrumental use on the crime.

Charges against the convicted drug lords read: “that you, Olashupo Michael Oladimeji, Muaezz Ademola Ogunbiyi and Adebisi Adebola Omoyele (at large), Male, Adults, being members of International Criminal Organized Group, with others based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Brazil and Australia and presently at large, on or about the 26th August 2025 at the Skyway Handling Company (SAHCO) Export Shed, a Customs Area/Point of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos conspired amongst yourselves to export 17.90 kilograms of Cocaine, a Narcotic Drug, concealed in Textile Materials and you thereby committed an act which is an offence contrary to section 14 (b) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Cap. N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. 

“That you Muaezz Ademola Ogunbiyi and Adebisi Adebola Omoyele (at large) both Male, Adults being members of International Criminal Organized Group, with others based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Australia on or about the 26th August 2025 at the Skyway Handling Company (SAHCO) Export Shed, a Customs Area/Point of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos procured one Olashupo Michael Oladimeji to export 17.90 kilograms of Cocaine, a Narcotic Drug, concealed in Textile Materials and you thereby committed an act which is an offence contrary to section 21 (2)(d) of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Cap. N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 and punishable under section 11(b) of the said Act. 

“That you Olashupo Michael Oladimeji Male, Adults, on or about the 26th August 2025 at the Skyway Handling Company (SAHCO) Export Shed, a Customs Area/Point of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos without lawful authority knowingly possessed possessed 17.90 kilograms of Cocaine, a Narcotic Drug, concealed in Textile Materials and you thereby committed an act which is an offence contrary to section 19 of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Cap. N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. 

“That you Sola Adegoke a.k.a. Babashola Omoyele Male, Adult, on or about the 4th September 2025, at No.13 Reverend Ogunbiyi Street, G.R.A. Ikeja Lagos without lawful authority knowingly possessed 9.6 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa, a Narcotic Drug, similar to Cocaine, LSD, Heroin concealed in a Black Range Rover Car with Registration Number RBC 459 EJ and you thereby committed an act which is an offence contrary to section 19 of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Cap. N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. 

“That you Muaezz Ademola Ogunbiyi Male, Adult, on or about the 4th September 2025 in your residence at Tiye Town, Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, without lawful authority knowingly possessed 10.9 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa, a Narcotic Drug, similar to Cocaine, LSD, Heroin and you thereby committed an act which is an offence contrary to section 19 of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Cap. N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.”
