The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced an extension of the ongoing collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Anambra State.
The decision, according to the commission, followed appeals from citizens and key stakeholders who requested additional time for eligible voters to collect their cards ahead of the November 8, 2025 governorship election in the state.
In a statement issued on Monday night by the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, INEC said the exercise, which was initially scheduled to end on Sunday, October 26, has now been extended from Wednesday, October 29, to Sunday, November 2, 2025.
Eta-Messi explained that the extension was aimed at ensuring that all registered voters who were yet to collect their PVCs had sufficient opportunity to do so before the polls.
“The commission urges all eligible voters who have not yet collected their Permanent Voter Cards to take advantage of this extension to do so,” the statement read. “INEC remains committed to ensuring that no eligible voter is disenfranchised in the forthcoming election.”
She also reaffirmed the commission’s readiness to conduct a free, fair, and credible election in Anambra, noting that logistics and personnel deployment plans were already being finalised.
Stakeholders and civil society groups have commended the extension, describing it as a welcome development that will allow more voters to participate in the electoral process.
INEC offices and designated collection centres across Anambra are expected to remain open daily, including weekends, during the extended period.
