The Lagos State Police Command has assured residents that the state remains safe, calm, and under control, despite reports of protests taking place in some parts of the country.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohundare Jimoh, gave the assurance on Monday in Ikeja while addressing journalists during a Show of Force exercise carried out by the command.

Jimoh explained that the operation was part of proactive security measures to reassure the public of the police’s readiness to protect lives and property, as well as to deter any potential breakdown of law and order.

“We want to make it clear that Lagos is safe. There is no cause for alarm. Our officers and men are fully on ground to ensure that residents go about their normal activities without fear or intimidation.”

He added that the command had deployed personnel to strategic locations across the state, including major highways, business districts, and public facilities, to maintain peace and prevent any attempt by mischief-makers to incite unrest.

Jimoh also urged residents to disregard rumours or social media reports suggesting instability in Lagos, advising them to rely on verified information from the police and other security agencies.

“The command will not tolerate any act capable of disrupting public peace. We are working closely with sister security agencies to ensure the continued safety of everyone in the state.”

The Show of Force featured a convoy of patrol vehicles, anti-riot squads, and other tactical units parading through major streets in Ikeja and adjoining areas, symbolising the command’s readiness to respond swiftly to any security challenge.

Normal activities continued across most parts of Lagos on Monday, with banks, markets, and schools open, even as security operatives maintained visible presence at key points in the metropolis.
