Governor Mutfwang extolled General Gowon’s remarkable leadership during one of Nigeria’s most turbulent periods, commending his wisdom, patriotism, and diplomatic finesse. He noted that as a Military Head of State, General Gowon navigated the nation through challenging times and ensured its survival as one indivisible entity.
The Governor recalled that General Gowon’s post-civil war declaration of “No Victor, No Vanquished” remains an enduring testament to his spirit of reconciliation and national healing. He said the implementation of the famous Reconciliation, Reconstruction, and Rehabilitation programme was instrumental in rebuilding Nigeria’s socio-economic fabric and rekindling the spirit of unity among her people.
Governor Mutfwang further commended the elder statesman for his humility, integrity, and compassion, virtues that have earned him global respect and admiration. He emphasized that as a proud son of Plateau, a true patriot, and a respected international figure, General Gowon’s legacy transcends politics and continues to enrich humanity.
