Osun and Ondo States have been named major states where Indian hemp is being grown.
This is as the Zonal Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Zone 9, Assistant Commander-General of Narcotics, ACGN Tunde John Omotosin, confirmed this during the week when he visited Tribune House in Ibadan.
According to the NDLEA boss, while the substance is being grown in the two states, Ibadan, Oyo State capital, has the storage house.
Omotosin warns youth against drug usage, adding that drugs are the worst enemies one can have for themselves.
According to him, “The major farms are in Osun and Ondo, but the storage is in Ibadan. I am saying this because I’m familiar with the terrain and I have worked as an operations commander in Osun.
“When the foreign UNODC officials came around, we went to the farms and destroyed many of them and we arrested people who told us their modus operandi. It is easier here in Ibadan to store than where it was planted.
“We need to save our youths and we must not mortgage our future. Drugs are the worst enemies we have. If you visit rehabilitation centres, you will agree with me because drug users are never productive.”
