TWO POLICE OFFICERS KILLED BY SUSPECTED BANDITS IN KADUNA — COMMAND CONFIRMS

The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the killing of two of its officers by suspected bandits in Zonkwa, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this in a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday, describing the attack as “tragic and deeply saddening.”

According to Hassan, the incident occurred late Friday when the officers were reportedly ambushed while on routine patrol in the area. He said the command had launched a full-scale investigation to uncover the circumstances surrounding the attack and to bring the perpetrators to justice.

We can confirm that two of our personnel were killed by suspected bandits in Zonkwa, Zangon Kataf LGA. The Commissioner of Police has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident,” the statement read in part.

Hassan added that security had been beefed up in the area to prevent further attacks, while patrol and intelligence operations had been intensified to track down the assailants.

The police spokesperson extended condolences to the families of the slain officers, describing their deaths as “a painful loss to the Force and the nation.”

He urged residents of Zonkwa and surrounding communities to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could aid the ongoing investigation.

Bandit attacks have continued to plague parts of Kaduna State, particularly in the southern and central regions, despite ongoing military and police operations aimed at restoring peace and security in the affected communities.
