The Kenyan Catholic Church has introduced a new brand of altar wine, Mass Wine, strictly for use during Holy Mass after the previous brand became widely available in local bars and shops. Bearing the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) coat of arms and an official signature for authenticity, the new wine is imported from South Africa and distributed exclusively by the Church. All parishes have been directed to discontinue the old wine, which many faithful felt had lost its sacred distinction. Wine is used at Mass to symbolize the blood of Jesus Christ and is normally drunk by the priest. On some occasions, it is given to the congregation as well.#DWAfrica
