The All Progressives Congress (APC) has lashed out at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his recent comments on the state of the nation, accusing him of stoking fear and attempting to incite public unrest.
In a statement issued yesterday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC described Atiku’s criticisms of the federal government as “reckless, unfounded, and deliberately designed to mislead Nigerians.”
According to Morka, Atiku’s portrayal of the economic and security situation amounted to alarmism aimed at undermining the progress of the President Bola Tinubu administration.
Atiku Abubakar has once again shown his desperation to remain politically relevant by painting a picture of doom and gloom about Nigeria. His remarks are nothing but propaganda intended to cause disaffection and instability,” the APC spokesman said.
The ruling party maintained that while challenges remain, the government has recorded notable achievements in stabilizing the economy, curbing insecurity, and laying the groundwork for sustainable development.
“Rather than engage in constructive criticism or offer workable ideas, Atiku has chosen the path of alarmism, seeking to provoke public anger and chaos,” the APC added.
The party urged Nigerians to disregard what it called the former vice president’s “self-serving commentary” and to rally behind government policies designed to secure food supply, expand job opportunities, and reduce inflation.
Meanwhile, political analysts say the verbal crossfire between Atiku and the APC is a continuation of the fierce rivalry that defined the 2023 general elections. Some warn that heightened rhetoric from both sides may further polarize the political atmosphere as the country edges closer to the 2027 polls.
Atiku is yet to issue a direct response to the APC’s latest statement.
