The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has confirmed that Nigerian graduates must shift from being job seekers to becoming investors and job creators, a vision he outlined during the 4th meeting with professional and regulatory bodies in Abuja on September 3, 2025.
He emphasized that the NYSC, marking 52 years of fostering national unity and development, aims to transform the service year into a platform for professional excellence and entrepreneurial innovation, urging collaboration with bodies to equip youths with skills for global competitiveness. Nafiu highlighted that professional certification would enhance academic qualifications, pushing graduates to lead with competence and character rather than rely on employment opportunities.
This paradigm shift comes as the NYSC seeks to address unemployment challenges, with Nafiu calling for a collective effort to mold youths into self-reliant contributors to Nigeria’s economy.
