The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State urged residents yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to seize the opportunity presented by the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which began its physical phase on August 25, 2025. INEC’s spokesperson, Musa Olurode, revealed that 360,794 PVCs remain uncollected across the state’s 30 local government offices and the Modakeke Area office, out of 1,954,800 registered voters. Speaking at a press conference in Osogbo, Resident Electoral Commissioner Dr. Mutiu Agboke emphasized the importance of collecting these cards to participate in the 2026 governorship election, warning, “No PVC means no voting.”
The CVR, which kicked off online on August 18, 2025, saw Osun lead with 393,269 pre-registrants, representing 28.15% of the 1,379,342 nationwide applicants in its first week, according to INEC’s National Commissioner Sam Olumekun. Physical registration, running daily from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., is now active across all INEC offices in Osun, offering services like new registrations, voter transfers, and replacement of lost or damaged cards. Agboke, during a monitoring exercise, confirmed the process’s transparency and efficiency, urging eligible voters to register or collect PVCs without delay to avoid last-minute rushes before the August 30, 2026, deadline.
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke echoed INEC’s call, describing the CVR as a “critical civic responsibility” for shaping the state’s governance, as noted by Osun Spring. The commission has also sought media and traditional rulers’ support to mobilize citizens, stressing that double registration is illegal.
