Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has condemned the alleged brutal treatment of a young woman by a vigilante outfit in Anambra State, describing it as an act of “primitive wickedness and savagery.” In a post on his official X account, Obi said he was deeply heartbroken and ashamed that such cruelty could occur in 2025, insisting that no society should tolerate the humiliation and dehumanization of its citizens, especially women and the vulnerable.
He stressed that the assault was not only a violation of law and morality but also a direct attack on collective humanity, adding that the victim could have been anyone’s daughter or sister. Obi urged relevant authorities to swiftly apprehend and prosecute those responsible, and called for stronger safeguards and policies to protect citizens from abuse.
According to him, the incident must serve as a wake-up call for society to embrace justice, compassion, and the inviolable dignity of every human being. “Our humanity must always come first. Without it, we are nothing but a people adrift in cruelty,” he said.
