Just days after Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1) sparked controversy with an altercation at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja involving ValueJet, another disruptive incident, dubbed “KWAM 2” online, unfolded at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport on August 10, 2025. A female passenger on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos allegedly assaulted a flight attendant and confronted airport security officials, causing chaos. Videos shared on X captured the passenger, visibly enraged, yelling and physically engaging with a crew member, with eyewitnesses claiming she slapped the attendant. The commotion escalated as she was removed from the plane, lunging at security personnel and swatting away cameras, her shirt torn in the fray.
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) responded swiftly, with Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection Michael Achimugu attributing the incident to the passenger’s refusal to comply with routine safety protocols, specifically instructions to turn off mobile devices during takeoff or landing. Achimugu, via a statement on X, emphasized, “Passengers need to understand they have responsibilities, not just rights,” and noted that further details would be addressed on August 11, 2025. Ibom Air has not issued an official statement, but sources within the airline, as reported by Spectators NG, hinted at potential legal action against the passenger under Nigeria’s aviation regulations.
