The Federal Government has sacked 15 correctional officers from the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) for serious misconduct and breaches of service rules, as confirmed by statements from the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) released on August 7, 2025.
The decision, part of a broader disciplinary action following a review of 224 cases, also saw 59 officers demoted and 42 issued written warnings, reflecting a zero-tolerance stance on indiscipline within the service.
The move, endorsed by Interior Minister Dr. Olubunmi Tunde Ojo, aims to uphold professionalism and integrity, with Controller General Sylvester Nwacuhe assuring fair implementation in line with established procedures.
