The Sokoto State Police Command disbursed N14,120,491.70 on August 7, 2025, to families of officers who died or were injured in the line of duty, as confirmed by a statement from Public Relations Officer DSP Ahmad Rufai. The funds, distributed under the Inspector-General of Police Family Welfare Scheme, Group Life Assurance, and Group Personal Accident Scheme, were presented during a ceremony at the Command Headquarters in Sokoto. Deputy Commissioner of Police Umar Abubakar Sokoto, representing Commissioner Ahmed Musa, expressed condolences and described the cheques as a gesture of remembrance and support, urging recipients to use the funds wisely.
The initiative reflects the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to supporting its personnel, with Commissioner Musa, on behalf of Inspector-General Kayode Egbetokun, emphasizing the welfare of both serving and retired officers and their families. Beneficiary Attahiru Sulaiman, speaking for others, thanked the police authorities and pledged responsible use of the funds.
