Despite swirling speculation over his future, Bayo Ojulari, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), was present at an official assignment on Monday, asserting his ongoing leadership role at the oil firm.
According to Vanguard, Ojulari reported for duty around 9:35 a.m., resuming a range of administrative responsibilities following persistent rumors circulating over the weekend that he had submitted his resignation. Staff members were issued internal memos instructing them to disregard the speculations on social media.
These swirling rumors—originating from online reports—alleged that Ojulari was coerced into signing a resignation under pressure from anti-graft agencies, specifically the EFCC and the DSS. However, both agencies have denied involvement, characterizing the claims as baseless and misleading.
The Presidency has also dismissed the reports, affirming Ojulari remains the substantive head of NNPCL.
Further complicating matters, the Arewa Economic Forum has publicly called on the federal government to issue an official statement clarifying Ojulari’s status, warning that unresolved uncertainty could harm investment climate and institutional trust.
