Exercise Fast Bolt III : Army trains troops to enhance operational competence

The Nigerian Army on Friday boosted its capacity with an intensive training on operational competence and mission orientation .

 

The training was being conducted in a 21-week, package for soldiers of the Chief of Army Staff’ Special Operations Battalion at the Nigerian Army Training Centre (NATRAC) Kotangora, Niger.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, was represented by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division and Commander, Sector 1 Joint Task Force North-West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Maj.-Gen. Mayirenso Saraso .

He underscored training as a reflection of his ‘Command Philosophy,’ which places high premium on combat readiness through consistency and standardized mission orientation.

The COAS asserted that the training code named ‘Exercise FAST BOLT III’, was revitalised and conducted in double stream.

He said,”It was further extended from 3 to 6 months to deepen and enhance the troops’ operational competence and tactical acumen.”

Oluyede stated that the exercise would continue to provide a vital platform for the Nigerian Army to sustain its personnel for deployment across various theatres of operations.

He added,”This is a testimony of our commitment to building internal capacity and promoting self-reliance in our training doctrine.”

The COAS added that the outstanding performance also demonstrated and affirmed the effectiveness of the
approach, saying,”it has strengthened my confidence in your readiness to be deployed anywhere in defence of our nation.”

Dignitaries who graced the closing ceremony included the hosts, Commanders, NATRAC and Nigerian Army, Corps of Artillery.

Others were Principal Staff Officers from the Army Headquarters and 1 Division as well as Formation Commanders and Heads of security agencies in the area, among others.

 

Highlights of the event included; training review, tug of war, presentation of certificates, tree planting an the inauguration of new projects, among others.
