The United States Embassy in Abuja and the Consulate General in Lagos have officially announced their closure today, July 4, 2025, in observance of the U.S. Independence Day.
In a statement posted on their official platforms, the U.S. Mission in Nigeria noted that regular consular services would be unavailable throughout the day. Both locations will resume normal operations on the next working day.
The closure is in line with the annual commemoration of the Declaration of Independence signed on July 4, 1776. The embassy thanked Nigerians for their continued cooperation and understanding.
