Mrs. Olubunmi Faluyi, former Registrar of the University of Ibadan, urged university registrars to defend academic integrity and avoid lowering standards during the Trinity University Registry Lecture Series held last Thursday in Yaba. Addressing peers from institutions such as UNILAG, YABATECH, and Redeemer’s University, she described the Registry as “the custodian of institutional memory, anchor of regulatory compliance, and enabler of governance reforms.” Faluyi stressed that in today’s changing academic landscape shaped by policy shifts, digital innovation, and growing stakeholder expectations, registrars must stay vigilant against plagiarism and bogus schools and ensure administrative systems align with global norms.
She emphasized the Registry’s evolving role: not just an admin office but a strategic hub for continuity, excellence, and responsiveness during institutional change. Faluyi urged registrars to craft sustainable strategies that strengthen university frameworks and maintain global best practices. Trinity’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Clement Kolawole, supported her vision, calling on the government to allow private universities access to TETFund, as they too educate Nigerian children and depend on fair resource distribution. Trinity’s Registrar, Mr. David Oyejide, said the event aims to nurture collaboration, spark fresh ideas, and boost professional growth among registry staff.
