A fatal road traffic crash occurred in the early hours of Sunday, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, resulting in two deaths and one injury.
The crash, which involved three adult males, happened around 2:00 am near World Oil, Outwards Lagos.
According to the Lagos State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the crash involved:
1. Chevrolet Car – Grey (Registration Number: Nil)
2. Toyota Hiace Bus – White (Registration Number: RSH 23 XG)
3. Iveco Truck – Blue (Registration Number: Nil)
Sector Public Education Officer, RC E.O. Jayeola, revealed that preliminary investigations and eyewitness reports point to Loss of Concentration (LOC) and Speeding as the causes of the crash.
While the injured was rushed to a nearby hospital, the remains of the deceased victims were released to their relatives.
The FRSC response team arrived at the scene to restore free flow of traffic along the affected route.
Corps Commander Kehinde G. Hamzat, Sector Commander, expressed grave concern over the increasing frequency of fatal crashes, especially during early morning hours:
“Driving must be treated as a life-saving responsibility. Fatigue, overspeeding, and poor control continue to cost lives unnecessarily.
“We strongly advise all motorists to avoid night travels when visibility is poor and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before each trip.”
The FRSC Lagos Sector Command is intensifying public enlightenment efforts and has increased personnel deployment across key corridors to prevent further loss of life.
