The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi has said that construction work will soon commence on the Ndibe Beach, Afikpo in Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, which is designed to link Cross River State in one long stretch of white beach sand.
Umahi, who disclosed this development when he visited the beach, along with other officials of the Ministry to carry out the last phase of inspection of the beach for commencement of construction, assured the people of the area that President Bola Tinubu is committed to ensuring that all the projects embarked on by his Renewed Hope Agenda would be completed at record time.
He noted that the Ndibe Beach Crossing is part of the project that would benefit the people of Ebonyi and Cross River States, urging the people to continue to support the administration of President Tinubu.
All is now set for the commencement of the project, with all the necessary approvals having been secured,  calling on the people of the area to ensure the protection of lives and property of those that would execute the job.
The Leader of Ebonyi State House of Assembly and Member Representing Afikpo West State Constituency, Hon Kingsley Ikoro, commended the Minister for attracting the project for the people of Afikpo.
Enumerating some of the benefits of the Beach Crossing linking Ebonyi and Cross River States, he maintained that the crossing would ensure economic growth, easy transportation of goods and services and open up the area for wider infrastructural development.
Ikoro, who described the project as a legacy project of the Renewed Hope Agenda administration of President Tinubu, noted that the people of Afikpo over the years have yearned for such a crossing to be constructed, adding that the project would bring to an end the risk faced by farmers while transporting their goods to the area.
He assured the Minister that the people of Afikpo and Ebonyi State in general would continue to support the present administration of President Tinubu, assuring also that maximum security would be guaranteed for the equipment that would be used for the project.
The House of Assembly Member Representing Afikpo East State Constituency, Hon Ukie Ezeali said the development and economic importance of the project to Afikpo people when completed cannot be overemphasized, adding that it will boost the ease of doing business in the area and link the city to other neighbouring towns.
The Minister also inspected the failed section of Amaiyi-Edda road in Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State and directed the repair of the failed section to improve connectivity among communities.
